My phoenix is with me this New Year's Eve. Humming. Gently. For once, not being unhelpfully opinionated or deafening me with her chatter. Not choosing to disappear just when I've got used to her voice in my ear and then miss its presence. No ruffled feathers today!
She is perched, quietly, brewing a cup of phoenix tea - a soothing, welcome elixir which reminds me that sometimes we need to feel, not think. Focus on the warmth that life and love generate; a warmth that revives and invigorates.
A new friend, who has a deep, magical voice and a hearty laugh that fills its place in the universe most completely, recommended a book that I might buy myself for Christmas. A book about love. A book that reminds me of what I know - that everything is about love.
There is no better or truer response to the things life can throw at us, than love. We need to love in order to be loved. Open ourselves to love and everything in time and space is revealed to us in a new way.
That is all. And everything.
Non-likers of the word 'love' could substitute it with 'warmth'!
Be warm, my friends, like a phoenix. Be warm, and real, and wonderful and know and feel. I wish this for you - for all of us - as one calendar year ends and another comes into being.
